How is anyone supposed to lose weight when they are bombarded with all kinds of information that only end up confusing them?
To make things simpler therefore, here are 5 simple to follow daily diet habits for a healthier you!
Boring Is Good For You
Have you ever sat down on the table went like “This again!” before going out to buy anything else just for a change? Well, it turns out that you have to settle with the boring routine if you want to be healthy.
This doesn’t mean that you should stick with the same omelettes for breakfast, salad for lunch and tuna casserole for dinner every single day, of course.
You can cycle through four or five types of food for every meal time and maintain them. Why?
- You control the amount of calories that you consume with less effort.
- You establish a habit that is both easy to follow and is healthy for you.
- Your body becomes attuned to the nutrients that you get from the food.
Boring, repetitive eating helps you automatically dictate the portions and calorie-intake. Entrenched habits mean less work for your brain and less chance of falling off the wagon. When your body enjoys the nutrients it’s getting, what more do you need?
Keep in mind though that you still need to be careful with what you’re eating. Keep the nutrients balanced and healthy.
Mom and dad did say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you believed them, then you’re mostly likely reasonably healthy already. If not, you really should start listening to your parents.
Why? Because research shows that eating breakfast means:
- Losing and maintaining weight is easier
- You get and store more essential vitamins and nutrients
- Better mood throughout the day
Not eating breakfast leads to feeling hungry and consequently, overeating. Eating breakfast is basically fully fuelling your body’s system. A full stomach that also gives you complete vitamins and nutrients will make you less cranky, and reduces the odds of stress-eating.
Drink Some H2O
Water might just be the single plainest, most boring refreshment that you are every likely to come across. It’s also the only source of hydration that guarantees health and weight loss. The reasons for this are threefold:
- Drinks that contain sugar, artificial flavour or synthetic sweeteners add fat
- Good hydration leads to better health
- Good hydration means better metabolism
Black coffee or organic tea might be the exceptions, but other drinks aside from water make you fat and unhealthy. A hydrated body functions better, including the conversion of fat into energy.
If Grandma Doesn’t Know What It Is
This one has been around for quite a while, but it’s so important that it bears repeating.
If your grandmother wouldn’t recognize it, you probably shouldn’t eat it.
Of course, this is a little vague. So to just to give you a few examples, here are a few things that grandma would eat:
- Fruits & Vegetables.
- Meat, Seafood & Fish.
- Milk, Cheese and Other Dairy Products.
Grandma wouldn’t eat Mac & Cheese out of the box, would she? The food types mentioned on the list have obvious nutritional benefits. The last part is a little controversial, but to each his/her own, right?
Only Good Things At Home
Keeping things like junk food, ice cream, microwavable baked macaroni and soda at home makes it infinitely harder to become healthier.
If you are planning on getting more health products into your fridge, you better be wise enough to avail of gift cards and promos. The temptation to munch on chips when bored or stressed or angry can be difficult to resist if the bag is right there.
So instead of these unhealthy foodstuffs, you might want to think about stocking up on things like:
- Fruits, berries and nuts
- Vegetables that you can turn into snacks
- Dark, dark chocolate
That last one is actually for you to decide since the Superfood industry is filled with different kinds of items. More are being added every day as well.
