Italian Caprese Salad

I am obsessed with Caprese Salad. I eat it as a main dish, side dish, appetizer and even as a snack.  Its the perfect dish and I want to keep eating it because its the perfect combination of flavours; cold, sweet, crunchy, cheesy…mmmmmmm!

Since I make this dish very often, I usually use a simple balsamic reduction, which results in a gorgeous presentation and a flavour to die for.

I truly believe this is my soul dish. Not even kidding.

As for the recipe, its so simple that even a 5 year old can make it.

  • Layer alternating slices of tomatoes and mozzarella, adding a basil leaf between each, on a large, shallow platter.
  • Drizzle the salad with extra-virgin olive oil and season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  • Eat it just plain or serve with Bruschetta.
