The journey of self-care is a winding road. First, a certain awareness sets in which forces you to take a journey inwards. During that journey, you question everything: Why am I here? What is my purpose? What Can I control? What should I let go? Who am I?
The questions are many and the answers find you only when you are quiet, not just verbally but mentally. It’s not easy to meditate simply because the mind hates it. Its an un-chartered territory for the mind and it does whatever it can to make you quit. Racing thoughts, itchy body, restlessness, severe anxiety, suddenly every emotion and uncontrollable feeling will surface and for most people, it’s just too much.
hey end of quitting quickly and taking the comfortable route of old habits, patterns and thinking process. But if you have managed to stick to it diligently but at least meditating for 10 min everywhere, then it means you are serious about self-care. That’s a big step so well done!
But also, this is where it gets interesting: amidst all the discomfort brings with it a certain gap, sort of like a crack, through which you can see yourself like you had never seen before. Yes, meditation cracks you open in ways you don’t expect. Suddenly the world feels different because you are different. Situations and people don’t rattle you much and you have an inner world where everything is possible. You know what I mean, don’t you?
I meditate for 15 min twice a day and finish it by reading my affirmations. I feel like my mental health and wellness depends on my meditation practice and I take it and guard this time for seriously. If ever I miss a session, I feel disoriented and unaligned, like a messy closet. Even though I meditate on a blue cloth, I have been contemplating buying a meditation cushion for a long time. Simply because I like the idea of a special cushion just for my practice with my energy embodied within the fabric. I came across this yoga cushion by a brand called Zafu which I absolutely love! Their website is strictly okay and they have way more options on their Amazon page so I recommend that you check that instead.

Isn’t this yoga cushion beautiful? It’s all natural worth and the inner core is filled with organic buckwheat hulls that are sealed in their own separate zippered cotton bag which is machine or hand washable. The brand recommends air drying both the outer and inner covers.

Travel Size Option
Since I travel a lot, I like to carry compact options which can easily fit in the suitcase or backpack. That’s why I love this small yoga cushion or bolster from Gayo. I think this a better travel-friendly option and can be used for Savasana as well. Or for taking a nap. Lol!
