As a runner,I’m looking forward to IRL races to be finally back in 2021. After a difficult last year and more than a year of virtual races, and workouts in masks, I’m looking forward to training outdoors and getting in shape for my first ‘real’ race, whenever that may be. I’m really looking forward to racing and training with other people, and pushing myself to reach new goals.
One day soon, I will cross a finish line again!
If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that I like staying fit and trying new workouts. But heres a secret which I have even too scared to admit: I’ve always wanted to do a Spartan race. Yes, that right. Thats why when I found out that Amazfit is a new sponsor I was excited. Both brands share a very similar spirit and attitude, and are all about the ultimate challenge. Amazfit’s new outdoor smartwatch, the Amazfit T-Rex Pro, helps you to protect your health and keep fit, but most importantly it inspires you to workout harder, get outdoors, and ‘Explore Your Instinct’.
If you’ve never heard of Spartan, here’s how they described their races when announcing the partnership with Amazfit: “With water, mud, fire and barbed wire, the Spartan racecourse puts athletes to the ultimate test – and they need a smartwatch that can stand up to the elements while measuring their performance.” That sounds…..tough.
When I read ‘mud, water, fire and barbed wire’ I just think, I need to try! I can see why the Amazfit T-Rex Pro, a rugged military-grade smartwatch created to help you ‘Explore Your Instinct’, would be the ideal companion for this kind of race.
The watch, tough from the inside out, has passed 15 military-grade tests and can withstand most kinds of extreme conditions, which is the kind of endurance I need in a smartwatch and what makes it ideal for the challenges of the Spartan race – or any kind of outdoor sport or adventure race.
Tracking Is Good
Fitness trackers, such as smartwatches, are essential companions for anyone who’s passionate about the outdoor lifestyle. So it’s a good thing the Amazfit T-Rex Pro supports four global navigation satellite systems, a barometric altimeter and more than 100 sports modes, making it a practical partner for a loads of activities I enjoy.
Some adventurous outdoor sports modes included on the Amazfit T-Rex Pro are outdoor running, orienteering and parkour, which are the ideal kind of workouts that anyone preparing for Spartan – or any adventure, obstacle or endurance race – needs to practice. What you can be sure of in these races is that you will get wet and you will get muddy, so the inclusion of 10 ATM water-resistance means you can push your limits and accomplish goals you didn’t think possible, without worrying about the watch being harmed by the elements.
Time To Be Ready
In the lead up to any race you need to make sure you’re ready for every challenge, so the watch’s comprehensive health and fitness tracking functions, powered by the BioTracker™ 2 PPG Bio-Tracking Optical Sensor, include precise heart rate monitoring – which makes it easier to stay healthy and get fitter, while tracking your progress. This means you can record your distance, speed, heart rate changes, calories burned, and other exercise data, to keep an eye on your achievements while you race, and if you start to feel a little uneasy, you can take a moment to measure your blood-oxygen saturation level to better understand your physical condition.
The Perks Of A Good Smartwatch
Of course, you don’t have to be a Spartan, an athlete or someone who wants to push themselves to new extremes to wear an Amazfit T-Rex Pro – it’s a great looking rugged smartwatch for anybody who wants to express their personality, or just live a more active lifestyle. If we want to become the best version of ourselves we all need support, goals and a plan, so that’s where a smartwatch like the Amazfit T-Rex Pro is your fitness companion every step of the way.
With regard to the Spartan races, one thing that’s most appealing, apart from the awesome challenges and obstacles, is the community and support during the races. Competitors push themselves and each other (sometimes literally) to complete each challenge and pass each obstacle, which builds a unique camaraderie that I haven’t seen in many competitions.
I’m looking forward to the day I can take part in a Spartan race, but for now I’m focusing on increasing my stamina. Because frankly speaking, I think I will need it.
