Let’s begin with the right question: Protein, how much do we need? Lead Image by Karolina Grabowska from Pixabay
The study from Harvard Health says it’s 56 grams per day for the average sedentary man and 46 grams per day for the average sedentary woman. Also Read: Recipe: High Protein Fried Rice
And since we are all more or less lead an inactive life these days, I think it’s necessary to mindfully add more protein to our diet. Yea, I know during these mentally and physically challenging times and food is the easiest source of comfort we can seek and attain. Trust me, I am all for having fries for breakfast on a bad day or a large glass of cold coffee as an easy mood booster. But on my less anxious and more stable days, I try and eat more consciously. Fruits, veggies, smoothies, even salads….you name it. This way, I don’t feel so bad about my cheat days ( which are more often than before due to lockdown). So, Heres the Deal
Our body NEEDS protein to stay strong and work the way it should because higher than 10,000 types are found in everything from our organs to our muscles and tissues to our bones, skin, and hair.
Protein is also a significant part of the methods that feed our energy and transport oxygen everywhere in our body and our blood. It also helps make antibodies that fight off diseases and illnesses and helps keep cells healthy and create new ones.
Where Do You Get Your Protein From?
Fish, eggs, meat, pulses, legumes, beans are the easiest sources for protein which I think more or less, we all are consuming a little bit daily.
But for me, I don’t consciously choose protein-rich foods. Because I just try and eat as healthy as possible and hope my protein requirements are getting met. Yea, I know how it sounds…random…but to be honest, I hate calorie counting and measuring how much protein I am getting per meal. It sucks the joy out of eating and is extremely boring for me.
But then I found a hack, if you may call it. Or rather, the sports and nutrition brand My Protein came to my rescue and I received three not boring protein-rich items.

Do You Really Need A Protein Shake?
Well, that depends on your fitness goals. If you want to gain muscle and need a bit of extra boost, then protein powder helps. As for me, I always found consuming protein shake daily cumbersome because I never really found a flavour I liked. Either most of them tasted like chalk, milky or too sweet. The worst part is that consuming protein shake gave me terrible heartburn or I just avoided it until then I found this one. Also Read: I Tried The Most Delicious Guilt Free Desserts

Buy the Clear Whey Isolate – Peach Tea Flavour (Vegetarian)
Verdict
But Clear Whey Isolate is surprisingly light, refreshing and didn’t give me excellent heartburn! The only downside? The whey doesn’t mix with water easily with a spoon so I have to blend/mix both ( one glass of water + 1 scoop of powder) in the mixer for 10 seconds. But it’s a small inconvenience especially since I am effortlessly adding 20g protein to my diet.
Pancakes, We All Need Pancakes
If you don’t like pancakes, then you shouldn’t be here, reading this at all. For me, pancakes are these all-encompassing superfood for the mind and soul. But this protein pancake is just another level good because it’s made different high-quality proteins from milk, whey and egg provide.

Buy the Protein Pancake Mix – Cinamon and Sugar Flavour (Vegetarian)
Verdict
Since these are loaded with slowly digestible nutrients, I prefer to have them when I desire a heavy breakfast along with fruits and eggs. But hey, anytime is a good time for these pancakes because each serving contains 34 g of high-quality protein. Yup.
To be honest, the above mentioned 3 items have made my diet healthier and I can feel a variation in my energy levels and overall fitness.
